Downtown revitalization

The BR&E process in Fenelon Falls led to a downtown revitalization project also including Coboconk, Lindsay and Omemee.  All four communities provided action plans in 2017 that resulted in the City of Kawartha Lakes forming a Downtown Revitalization Committee of Council to coordinate implementation in each community.  Fenelon Forward is facilitating community consultation for the revitalization project in Fenelon Falls.

“The Fenelon Falls Downtown Revitalization project includes properties located on Lindsay Street and Colborne Street, between Bond Street to the north and just past West Street to the south. The boundaries extend westward to include Water Street, May Street, Market Street and Francis Street locations.

The Fenelon Falls Downtown Revitalization program works to develop the proper mix of public space and social uses combined with bustling commercial activity to create a vibrant and engaging environment for residents and visitors alike. Strengthening local business, investing in built-environment, designing public spaces that encourage civic activities and providing work and living opportunities are some of the initiatives involved in improving the social, economic and physical health of our Downtowns.”

Fenelon Forward

Fenelon Forward was formed fourteen years ago to advocate for improvements in Fenelon Falls, initially as a committee of the Chamber of Commerce. Fenelon Forward has partnered in the local economic development projects in Fenelon Falls over the past thirteen years.

Results include:

  • Launching the Town Crier online newsletter
  • Promoting infrastructure improvements for growth (waste water treatment, roads and sidewalks) and downtown revitalization.
  • Planning with the City for the Colborne Street remake.

Fenelon Forward organizes public discussions and consultations about issues and improvements in Fenelon Falls, and undertakes surveys or other fact-finding activities
