Fenelon Forward
Fenelon Forward was formed in 2011 to develop and advocate for improvements in
Fenelon Falls in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce. Since then, Fenelon Forward has partnered in local economic development projects in Fenelon Falls, including
- Launching the Town Crier online newsletter
- Promoting infrastructure improvements for growth (waste water treatment, roads and sidewalks)
- Organizing public discussions and consultations about issues and improvements in Fenelon Falls, and undertaking surveys or other fact-finding initiatives
- Planning with the City and Downtown Revitalization for improvements on Colborne Street
- Studying options for a secondary bypass and bridge improvements
The Fenelon Falls Downtown Revitalization Project is a central part of this collaborative effort to improve the village. Downtown Revitalization facilitated community consultation for improvements in Fenelon Falls, which then became part of a broader City of Kawartha Lakes project that included Coboconk, Omemee and Lindsay. After a brief dormancy during the pandemic, “Downtown Revitalization 2.0” is resuming efforts towards improvements in the area bounded by May and Market streets streets on the west, Bond St. on the north, Colborne St. on
the east, and Water St. on the south.

Downtown revitalization
The BR&E process in Fenelon Falls led to a downtown revitalization project also including Coboconk, Lindsay and Omemee. All four communities provided action plans in 2017 that resulted in the City of Kawartha Lakes forming a Downtown Revitalization Committee of Council to coordinate implementation in each community. Fenelon Forward is facilitating community consultation for the revitalization project in Fenelon Falls.
